just got my first m43 camera and getting used to how things work.

i was under the impression that the EVF or live view always showed an accurate exposure but if i go into Manual mode for example and increase shutter speed (with fixed ISO), the live view/EVF image stays the same. in particular, when the exposure should be pretty much completely dark, live view shows a bright and well exposed image.

shouldn't the viewers be WYSIWYG?

thanks - yes that is the embarrassingly simple solution...

now where can i hide?
Hahaha, it's ok! Things like this is what the forum's for :-)

It's good to know that even with the Live View Boost off you will only see up to +-3EV difference. So you can choose completely wrong settings in manual (resulting in the completely black image) and the EVF will show you only a -3EV under-exposed image.

No worries! I'm glad you asked this question. It reminded me to check that setting to make sure it's off on my camera, so thank you for that! Cheers!

Here's a tip that I find very handy: In the menu, scroll down to the wrench (the bottom option) and select Rec View. This let's you see the picture you just took in the EVF automatically & decide how long it should be shown before the EVF switches back to live view (I have mine set for 2 seconds). And if you're in a hurry, you can tap the shutter button to switch the EVF back to live view.

Maybe you already know this... but I figured it's worth mentioning since these cameras have so many features it's easy to lose track of them all!

I've always found the Highlights and Shadows setting on the EVF far more informative for getting the exposure where I want it.
