ACDSee

I use ACDSee as an image viewer and to perform some basic editing such as redeye and cropping. I hardly ever read of anyone in this forum using ACDSee which makes me wonder if I should be using a different/better application. I like ACDSee but have not compared it to any similar program. Any Thoughts?

My opinion, ACDSee is a great, fast viewer but any image manipulations done in it seem to be rather heavy handed on the compression algorithm, wind up with more jpg artifacts than with PS7 or PSP.

I was looking at canon forum for a while and saw this thread. I use ACDSee 5 also and have been very happy, however when i edit and save an image I still prefer PS7. Take a look at this thread

ACDSEE is a superb viewer but its not that great as an editor. I sometimes use it just for testing how a picture will look if I can bothered opening photoshop up but nothing touches the daddy (photoshop 7) for editing.

I like the older version better. I don't like doing to much corrective surgery to my photos so acdsee works great for me. If I need a little more I have PS elements.

I just discovered that the ACDSee "jpeg transforms" (image batch rotation) deletes the exif without event mentioning it! I love it as a viewer, but don't use it as an editor unless it's for quick work.

Hello,

I have ACDSee and used it for image viewing, but have found myself prefering IrfanView. IV loads faster and preserves EXIF for the simple tasks I assign to it (image rotate, for example).
