Hi there

Does anyone know if on the Canon G7x Mark II you can take still images while recording videos like the Sony RX100 IV?

What I mean is when you press the shutter button, it will capture a still image (albeit slighly lower quality - same resolution as the video) but still continue to record the video. No breaks in video

Thanks!

I have the G7X and not the G7X mkII. Looking in the manual, I can find nothing about recording stills while also recording video. I tried it out to see what would happen, but while recording video, pressing the shutter button just stops recording, no still picture is generated.

Looking in the G7X mkII manual, I don't find any mention there either of recording stills while recording video - maybe I missed something.

Since I am currently in Tokyo, I stopped by BiC Camera for a while today and tried to get the G7X mkII to take a still picture while recording video, but I was not successful. Pressing the shutter button while recording video just ended the video. I tried some different settings, but if it's there I can't find it.

It doesn't look to me like the mkII will record a still at all during video recording. Maybe someone who owns the camera will chime in and correct me if I'm wrong.

I am really surprised Canon have not sorted this out this deficiency by now. My Samsung WB2000 could do this years ago and many other makes of cameras since.
