This has to be the best DX lens ive used. I love the focal length and the images are tack sharp. The VR is quieter and works better then my previous 16-85mm f3.5-5.6 and the image quality has definitely improved. It isnt silent, but it is pretty quiet.

Ive had no focusing issues using this on my D5500.

I only wish it was weather sealed and cheaper. But generally, its a great lens! Id definitely recommend this lens, especially over the the older 16-85mm

The Nikon 17-55 F2.8 is a wonderful lens and my favorite on the D200 and D300.

Built like a tank.

Yes great, sharp, versatile DX lens. Wouldn't have gotten it but it was half off with a D500 and made the last minute decision to buy it after reading Thom's review (he thought it was the best DX zoom to date). Love it.

I own both the 16-80 and the 17-55 and have good things to say about both. One has got to love the build on the 17-55, but as I age, the less weight and the VR have me almost using the 16-80 exclusively. I have to say over about 12 years I got many great images with the 17-55 though that are hanging on my walls.

I agree. Its probably the best DX lens out there.

But its a little big and the range is somewhat limited.

Its definitely a pro lens. Its a pity Nikon doesn’t make more DX lenses like this

You will forget about the price after you take a few shots.

I paid full price and never had a second thought- the 16-80 is way better than the Tamron 17-50 I had before it.

Yes i have to agree with you.

I felt wrong spending so much money on DX but ever since i got it i have never thought about. It just looks and feels great and takes amazing photos.

The best DX lens Nikon currently makes. I have thoroughly tested mine on a professional level.
