I am evaluating a G7X II, and one thing that I find particularly annoying is the clutter of icons that come up on the screen each time camera is turned on. Most of them disappear after a while, or can be hidden by pressing INFO, but after taking a shot or making an adjustment they return. For comparison, RX100 can be set up with nothing but a focus bracket over the image area, and it stays that way until changed.

If I want to see the settings, they are always just a button press away, but does anyone know how to make the clutter-free view default on G7X II?

I have the same problem with the Canon G7X mark II. Screen clutter. Icons I never use are always there. How can I eliminate many, such as the video settings -- never use -- to simplify the screen to only what I need?

on the directional pad in the back with the camera on try pressing the bottom of the pad. does this help?

You should be able to customize how much information is displayed and to set mulltiple scenarios that you can then toggle through using the Info button (likely the down press on the wheel). I no longer have a G7X-II, but on my G5X-II these options appear in Shooting Info Disp. one one of the "wrench" pages in Settings. Don't expect to be able to pick and choose which specific igons will displaay, but you can eliminate all of certain classes of info.
