--I don't know if mine was a newer number but it was not in the bad range. Not all cameras during this time of manufacture had bad numbers. I know BH will take care of you.

I just wonder if it really makes so big difference between the F707 and F717. I tried both and examed the shots of both, but didn't noticed so big advantage of the F717 over F707 as Phil told us in his review. I always said, the improvements of the G3 over the G2 are much bigger than from F707 to F717. Anyway, the newer the better:-)

It's mostly a difference in functionality and the colors were toned down a bit.

Eventually that's what I'm going to do...

On the other hand, by this type of reasoning you can never know if they are not going to send you a camera that stood forgotten in a corner for half a year...

I will still test for piece of mind - HAF and ETV

What I assume happened was that B+H, being an authorized reseller, were notifed of the issue and returned all the bad numbers so to avoid the problems with customer returns. So, the still have lower range serials but ones that do not fall into the HAF bad list.
