Google Pixel Scores Highest DxOMark Mobile Score of 89

The new Google Pixel has scored the highest DxOMark Mobile score to date. The score of 89 tops the score of 88 achieved by the Samsung Galaxy Edge S7 and two others https://www.dxomark.com/Mobiles/Pixel-smartphone-camera-review-At-the-top . wow the Pixel camera is indeed a serious contender! It seems the ability to capture amazing images has something to do with clever image processing which utilizes multi shot HDR. I think Procamera app also has a similar feature but may not be as refined as the Pixels factory app.

What I find even more impressive is the PIxels unlimited cloud storage for backup and syncing photos and videos!! This ia a major plus for those who tend to lose or damage their phones.

DxO means nothing but potential of sensor, look at Sony Z5 and Apple iPhone 7, some of the highest DxO scores but the IQ is very poor, cos the processing and software used is poor... So yes, DxO means nothing...

see below, how "well" the Z5 and iPhone 7 do against the Lumia 950 (which ranks well below the iPhone 7 and the Z5 on DxO), the Z5 is a smeary mess and the iPhone 7 has got the colors all wrong and is almost as bad as the Z5 detail wise...

DxO scores mean nothing as you mention.

The score doesn't mean much but the actual photos look decent.

The hdr plus effect looks quite a little over artificial but the result is pretty nice.

This plus the unlimited full-size photo storage could make a nice combo but they are seriously charging a premium this time.

Yeah their rankings seem very advertising-ish......

Notice how their ranking is mostly in line with what is most recently introduced on the market.

And how exactly does the Moto Z Force score so high? I looked at a big batch of full size samples and overall the camera is rather noisy and low-light seems relatively poor compared to 10 phones ranked below it.

And there are 30+ cameras that rank better than the Nokia 808. But most would agree, the 808 sensor is superior to the 30+ cameras ranked above them.
