Hi all!

I'm a newbie on this forum, and my first question is about a Tamron 18-200 on a a6300. I'm currently using NEX-6, but I'm thinking about an upgrade for this new a6300. A time ago I purchased a Tamron 18-200 for my NEX, and as many others in this forum, I have had some problems with it's focusing. On the tele-end, sometimes it just do not focus at all, and the screen might get totally black every for a while etc.

I have read that this is quite a common problem with Tamron & older NEX- models, but is it so also with a6300? I mean, if I uprgrade the camera, should I get rid of this kind of a focusing problems?

Or should I change the lens also, for the Sony 18-200 LE or such, to get a better focusing?

It's really strange that Tamron is selling this kind of a crap for that price :-( If it would be a bug that will be fixed by Tamron, or a very rare problem over all, I could somehow understand it. But it seems to be really common problem for many Tamron users, and I don't know if there's anything I can do for it after all?

I have the Tamron 18-200 VC Di lll (i.e the mk3 version) on my A6000 and it is faultless in terms of function (very happy with IQ too). Assuming that you have this version, then it should perform the same on the A6300.

But this assumes that you don't have a faulty copy (i.e. your current problems are not due to incompatibility with the NEX). Only way to be sure would be to try your lens on an A6300 in a situation that you know gives problems with the NEX.

My Nex body is even older, NEX-3. No problems with the Tamron focusing. Have you tried warranty service or RMA?

Do you need the whole range up to 200? If not, you can consider sharper and more compact 18-135.

I set my 18-200 to 135 and was disappointed at the difference or lack thereof from 200.

It wasn't drastic by any means.

But the 18-135 is probably popular just for being fresh meat and a little smaller. 18-200 is no slouch on sharpness.
