Would love to see Canon release this as an accessory. This camera is begging to be used with its AF-C 7fps. Canon...pretty please?

Well Canon have spent a lot of time and effort trying to get the M series as small as possible.. I doubt a battery grip is high on their priority list. Maybe a third party can engineer one.

A "low rise" version would be great - this is the only time the battery shape - being slim and rectangular - makes it doable.

Work on, practice and perfect your emergency tactical battery reload. Get a magazine pouch for your spare batteries. Should be able to swap them out in three to five seconds.

Is that AMMO? Of course not - it's my M5 batteries..... :)

It is somewhat ironic that Canon finally releases a fairly serious mirrorless camera and the battery life (as listed) is...fairly low.

Having said that, I think this camera needs a battery grip. I keep one on my a7 at all times and it vastly improves the handling of the camera. I would love to see an actual Canon battery grip come out. The M5's lines just beg for it. And not everyone shoots mirrorless for the small size.

M5 needs this, I would buy one in a heartbeat if its good at adapting old lenses as well

What does a battery grip have to do with with AF-C 7fps?
Not having to switch batteries out as often.

You might as well shoot a DSLR then. They're still king for AF-C tracking and many times over on battery endurance. Also, EF-M has limited lens selection. Many of them slow aperture. Any sports lenses in terms of fast apertures or long focal are going to need a EF lens and adapter.

Something like this ... just a little wider than the battery itself...

That is why lots of the other mirrorless cameras also have a battery grip option.

They should have it. People who needs it will buy it. People who wants to keep their bodies small can just ignore it and it won't hurt them one bit.

And more $$ to Canon! :) Win-win!!!

Not seeing the irony. What do you mean?

Not sure third party grip is possible unless Canon has built the camera to accept one.

This is probably due to there being no irony in my post. What do you mean?
