I wanted a quick release plate to fit my tripod ball head that also had several places to use the Peak Design anchors with the Slide strap. I was SO disappointed when I bought my Peak Design Slide strap and I found out they don't have a combination quick release plate that holds the anchors and that will fit my Slik DQ-10 quick release system.

All of the plates they make are for arca swiss (the square kind) and my plate size is rectangular (1.18X1.54X.031)

I really don't want to give us using the strap with the anchors on the bottom of the camera. It makes carrying it so much easier.

BTW, can't use a regular arca swiss plate because I only have a Sony mirrorless camera and the plate gets in the way when you swing the lcd screen out.

Evidently the microplate that Peak Design has is not made to fit quick release ball head plates.

Anyone come across anything besides the few plates you use for sling straps? (I need something smaller than the ones I've looked at with a couple different holes for the anchors)

Arcs plate is too big for my mirror less camera. Can't swing the led screen out. Otherwise I wouldn't have a problem converting

Looking at the PD site, the smaller system clamp doesn't look to be AS at all (the 'Pro' version does, but I'd expect you're not using that one because, well...

And... they have a list of what tripods/heads work with their plates (both micro and AS). So you might be in for a new ball head.

Oddly enough, on that page, they seem to indicate that the 'mini' plate will work with AS as well. maybe take the plate into a camera shop and try it?

that is an illusion ;-)

You have keep in mind that the PD Capture system allows the standard plate (above) to be inserted in 4 directions. The Pro Plate can be inserted in 4 directions OR in 2 directions if the RC2 adapters are attached. The Micro plate can only be inserted in 2 directions in the Capture system.

The link above gives dimensions for the plates, the standard plate is 1.5" x 1.5" and the ProPlate is 2.1" x 1.5" with the RC2 adapters installed (without adapters 1.5" x 1.5"). The Microplate dimensions are 1.2" x 1.5". (Note: the webpage gives 1.7" but that is the top and not the dovetail).

Ask me if you need more information.

Thank you all for the information but I've already ordered and returned the microplate because it did not fit securely in the ball head.

I can't use anything PD has I'm probably going to have to find something that will work for both my problems.

There appears to be a gap at the back of your slik QR adapter head, so would it be possible to drill a hole in the QR plate and have the PD connector come up through that, or even the front part for that matter

So... you're saying the mini plate will indeed work fine in an AS clamp - only just in one dimension? I've (pretty obviously) never laid hands on one.

No problem, here is proof:

I know the microplate fits into an arca swiss ball head here is the issue:

I don't have AS on one of my tripods. I've got a Slik mini plate. If I switch to the arca swiss I need to get a quick release clamp and either buy the microplate OR find an arca swiss clamp and/or plate that has strap bosses for my Peak Design.

The PD micro plate can be used with the PD anchors, this can not be guaranteed with other AS plates. I have two plates (Sirui & Joby) that can not be used.

FYI All my cameras have anchor straps and peakdesign plates attached. The anchor straps are looped through the camera strap lugs, and are there so that I can secure the camera with a PD Leash or use the PD Slide camera strap. I do not have an anchor strap on the plates because most of the time I carry the camera using the Capture Clip, strap usage is an exception.

Btw. if you would like to buy some PD stuff at a discount then still have 4 days if you join in the latest campaign for the PD backpacks.
