The small cover next to the battery door is simply a cable pass-through. You actually need a special Panasonic converter that plugs in like a battery but has a cable that runs through that port and plugs into an AC power source. For the FZ200 it was only available to retailers so they could power the camera while on display, but it has been offered as an accessory for some models. I recall seeing it listed for the FZ1000 (which uses the same battery) bit it's not in its accessory list today.
Here's a page from the Advanced Features manual:
DMC-FZ200 - Using the AC Adaptor (optional)
DMC-FZ200 Accessories - with AC Adaptor & DC Coupler highlighted
Note that both the AC Adapter and the DC Coupler are required to power the camera.

Can anyone recommend an external high capacity battery for this coupler/converter that is plug and play, without needing other accessories? Every battery I have found from other links has been discontinued.
