Have I missed something or is there way to assign Pv or Fn button, or any other button, to toggle between Af-s and Af-c?

I don't think there is. I keep the camera set for af-c and use back button focusing. Gives you both options without having to change camera settings.

Sorry, I forgot the model, it is D500.

While holding in the button on the AF/M toggle switch and looking through the view finder you will see the info at the bottom say ASF or AFC. Use the rear command button to toggle between the two settings. I can do this with all but the longest lenses which require my left hand to be further along the lens barrel for support. The front command dial changes the amount of focus points.

Not sure you would need to assign another button to the task unless you are using long telephoto lenses.

You can set f6 to ON. You can then do the following, for example:

- push and release the AF/M button, it is as if it stays pushed, until you press the shutter or another command button . That frees your hand to hold the lens while you toggle with the front or rear wheels.

- push and release the ISO button, it stays on until you press the shutter or another command button. Again that frees your left hand to do other stuff.

Very useful info.

I think personally I'd go with the first suggestion. This works of course with all the assigned buttons but I didn't realise the potential of it.

F6 is now ON.

Thanks.

Check out Steve Perry's video on YouTube about back button focusing. I've grown so fond of it and use it exclusively now!

Thank you all, I guess backbutton focusing is the fastest way to deal with this problem.

Old habbits die hard, and it takes sometimes few moments to remember why the camera is not focusing when I press shutter release half-way...

I now have af-c on, backbutton focus and Pv button assigned to single point focus. Certainly a fast setup, as long as my fingers get it right!
