How Do You Identify a Fujifilm OEM Battery for The X30 ?

Several batteries are available for the X30. There are several OEM batteries available too, but they all look different. The one that came with my X30 does not look like the one at Amazon or the one at Adorama. They don't look alike either, yet they all say Fujifilm on them and are being sold as originals.

I am not sure that the one that came with my camera is an original Fujifilm battery. Who knows what the seller who is an official Fujifilm dealer, inserted into my package. How can one tell if the battery they have or want to buy is a real manufacturer's edition?

Since I have not found out if Fujifilm will honor their new camera warranty if an aftermarket battery has been used in the camera (I have tried to call them as they directed, but had to wait too long for a help person), I have purchased a new so called 'Fujifilm NP-95 battery' from Adorama, but it does not look like the one that came with my camera or the one Amazon sells. HELP !

I purchased earlier on, two aftermarket NP-95s by DOT-01. I have used their batteries and chargers before. However, their NP-95s claim a voltage of 3.7 volts while my 'what might be' OEM battery claims to be 3.6 volts. I will test both for actual voltage tomorrow. Will this make any difference as the voltage probably varies in use anyway? I don't want to ruin my camera or warranty.

Thanks all for your help....Dan

Don't waste your time testing voltages as I think sample variation and differences in charge levels, etc. will prevent you from getting meaningful results. We are talking about a difference of under 3% after all.

I'm confident my X30 battery is genuine as I bought the camera in Europe where we don't have any problems with dealers swapping package components and it does say 3.6V where my third-party ones say 3.7V.

Weight can be a more useful metric as I've found that third-party and fake Sony batteries weigh much less than genuine ones.

It is possible that there several different genuine designs for the one battery as Fujifilm buys from different suppliers. If you'd like to post some photos of what you've got I'll tell you which one mine resembles.

I looked at the site you provided. The NP-95 battery shown there is not like the one that came with my new X30. Fuji's image matches Amazon's, B&H and 17th St Photo. Adorama's is different. As Snapshot said, these all might be from different suppliers for Fujifilm.....Dan

As to the voltage difference, both the DOT-01 battery and my Fuji's battery register the same voltage....3.5v on a meter with a physical gauge and 4.15v on a digital meter. Strange, but at least the same reading for both batteries.

Mine looks the same as the official Fujifilm image.

Got my new "supposed to be OEM" battery today from Adorama. It looks more like the original battery (not exactically) that came with the X30 rather than Adorama's picture. Strange ???
Thanks, Dan

Not really strange. As discussed earlier, the appearance may change over time as the supplier changes. I had two boxed batteries for my Nikon D90 where even the boxes were different. Both were from reputable sources so I'm sure they were both genuine, just different ages.
