I unchecked the resample image and achieved smaller picture print output without losing dpi, but when I tried to import that picture to my weekly newslatter(created in Photoshop), the picture covered all the page, and I couldn't see any text.

Only way for me to resize and edit was through resample image. The dpi decreased while editing. How can I edit this picture, so it would fit (3X4) in the colum without losing dpi?

Assuming I understood the question... goto image / image size/ and resize your image to 3"x4". You will see the image in size decarease (or increase accordingly). The dpi value should stay the same. If for some reason, the dpi changes as you resize by inches (or cm), then type in the old dpi value again, BEFORE clicking on the OK button. Bottom line, you are offered three different ways to alter the image's size, and altering one or even two of them will always adjust the third accordingly.

PS I you are printing it out, make sure to select a more approprite DPI value instead of the 950's NORM / FINE value of 72 (like 300-360dpi).

Check your preferences for units & rulers. I explained this sometimes confusing relationship between printer and screen in the other forum where you posted this question.

While Photoshop is a good image editing program it is terrible for creating a newsletter. Use Photoshop to edit and size the images and use Page Maker or a good Word Processor for creating your newsletter. Your creating a major headache using Photoshop for this purpose. There is no tactile way to put it. My best suggestion for you would be to purchase some books on the subject. The graphic below gives some examples of the right tools for the job. There are many tools to use the graphic is only a suggestion.

Thank you, Rober and Serge for taking time to explain this.
