Whatever Phil, and others have been saying about the D30 is true, in my openion. This camera takes beautiful pictures, with a lot of detail. As soon as the batteries got charged, I put everything on auto and took this picture using the Canon 50 f1.4 lens. The auto mode selected f1.8. AS you can see the depth of field is very shallow. Sharpened it in Photoshop and adjusted the RGB curve just a smidgen.

Not an artistic image, but still nice for the first ever picture from this camera, with very little post processing. By now there are plenty of good D30 images posted on the web, and we all know the quality we can get from this camera. I just wanted to share with you my first, out of the box, fully automatic, point and shoot image from this camera. Hope you enjoy it.

Cheers!

Furrukh,

Scott from Cord called me today late afternoon to tell me my D30 is in. Now I must make a decision. I have one on order from a mail order dealer who claims my camera will come in next week. I would save over $400 if I take the chance and wait. On the other hand I could pick my camera up tomorrow from Cord! What should I do????? Glad you got yours and are pleased.

My D30 arrived at my office in Southern Massachusetts at 0930. Got it from Don's Photo in Winnepeg CA. Since I knew it was coming I brought fresh charged batteries and the 24-85 lens with me. Shot 50 pictures this afternoon and evening. Did lanscapes, available light portraits, some macros and flash. Tried the 400 and 800 ISO and was amazed at the results. I viewd and stored them as is in large fine JPEG.

Well worth the price. The controls are so near to my Elan II that I have not even opened the manual yet.
Hope all are as pleased as I am. Fred

Good news, Chris! 400 dollars is a lot of money! You have a tough decision to make. You need not feel guilty if you don’t buy it from one place, since they will surely sell it to someone else with no problem.

Cheers!
