Teleconverter for Tamron 70-300 VC CAF

Is there a teleconverter which will work with this lens and still have reasonable AF? I understand I will loose a stop of light with a 1.4. How much will IQ suffer?

I have the Kenko 1.4x TC Pro DGX. With my Nikon 80-200mm f2.8 it's excellent. I would say it keeps 98% of the sharpness of the lens....maybe more.

I also have the Tamron 70-300mm VC. Without the TC its very sharp throughout the range. With the TC attached is fairly sharp to about 200mm but get soft after that. At 300mm is unacceptable. Not worth the extra range. This is normal for this type of lens + tc combo. They are not really deaigned to be used with TCs.
