Good and bad news for the FZ300 users who've been waiting a long time for their cameras to be supported by DxO Optics Pro. The good news is that the camera is now supported. The bad news is that the support is in the new version 11. I'm not clear if users of the older version 10 will also be able to use the new camera module.

Looks like the upgrade to 11 is free if you bought after April 11, 2016. Not sure that'll be much solace to those who bought based on DXO's promise of FZ300 support months ago
Yea, if I was one of those people, I'd demand a free upgrade to v11 if the new module won't work with v10. I guess their case would be stronger if such a person had been in regular correspondence with DxO Support asking when their camera would finally be supported. In an ideal world, DxO Labs would proactively offer them a free upgrade, but that's probably too idealistic.

Well looks like I'll be communicating with DxO again:-(. after waiting 7/8 months I will see if there is some kind of discount??

I'll let you know!

p.s.Their chat was closed. I submitted a message and will probably know something tomorrow, For now it looks like a small $30 discount on the upgrade. I think we deserve more? $69 instead of $99 for the complete upgrade. Free would be better:-).

Warmest regards,

And from the DXO web site it looks like those of us who have DXO 10 Elite would have to pay the full £120 or equivalent to get DXO 11 Elite (and hence the new improved PRIME). It's their product and their choice, but it won't encourage me to do more business with them, and it will encourage me to look at alternatives.

Don't panic. If you log into your account, the upgrade cost for existing users to DxO Optics Pro Elite is £55. I'll be paying it.

Warmest regards,

Having purchased Elite 10 last November on the statement from DXO of a FZ330 module to be released in December I don't agree with Nigel, we should be allowed to have the module free to add to our Elite 10. I don't want version 11, I tried version 11 and it will not install on Win 7 Home Premium.

Have sent them an email and now waiting for a promised within 24 hours reply.

Oh dear. :(

As a Windows 7 Home Premium user I'll be interested to see how this develops.

As a long time user of DXO software I am very disappointed with this latest development. Have been on their Forum, and surprisingly, to me, no one other than myself seems to be concerned. Are we users all descending to the level of Lemmings?

Certainly if DXO do not intend to release the latest modules for use in previous versions of Elite, then I certainly will cease to extol DXO's virtues, I have always praised their support in the past.

Trust their email reply will give some good news.

How has this worked with previous releases? Were new camera modules usable without updating to the latest software version?

I seem to recall that each new point release notice has mentioned what new cameras were supported. What wasn't 100% clear is whether they were just notifying you that new modules were available, as well as a new software version, or if the new software version had to be installed first in order to use the latest modules. I've always assumed it was the latter.

I suppose the obvious way to test is if someone still using DOP 10 opens a RAW file from one of the newly supported cameras. So I just tried it with an a6300 image. And, sadly, DOP 10 says it can't open the file:

Trying to open an image produced by a camera newly supported in DOP 11 in DOP 10.
Trying to open an image produced by a camera newly supported in DOP 11 in DOP 10.

So this isn't the answer FZ300 users want to hear, but it's almost certainly consistent with what DxO has always done.

Cheers. Ken.
Let us know how that goes Ken. I'm on Win 7, and have no desire to change!!

Warmest regards,

p.s. Having waited this long I'm sure not going to rush into something that gives me more problems just to get the new module. The smoke needs to clear first:-(.
I don't think the system requirements have changed since v10, have they? So if your system runs v10, it should also be good for v11.

I hope you are right Nigel!! I'm running 7/64 bit but I'm not brave enough to give it a try until there is assurance that it will work! I don't want to get all discombogelated about this. Get confused too easily:-(.

Warmest regards,

Have tried again today to install the trial version with same result, though does say I need SP1, that's wrong my system is completely up to date, and yes 64 bit with SP1, and all latest updates. V10 has been running perfectly since install last year.

I wonder if it will not install unless you remove 10? I hope that's not the case. I'm running the same system as you Ken!

Warm regards,

Upgraded my V10 yesterday, very pleased much faster. System powerful WIN10/64 with gamer graphics and 4k screen.
