Some nice threads going on about your first camera, or what camera if you only had $1000.

But I am suspecting that a lot of us have more than one camera. ;)

What is / are the other camera(s) that you have?

How does it compliment your primary camera?

Why do you like it?

Take care & Happy Shooting!

My digital stuff is shown in my gear list, and the second line is just a smaller, lighter version...

The interesting stuff is the analogue cameras, where I have a Dynax 7 (about as sophisticated as a film SLRgot) and a Microcord TRL (about as good a clone of a German camera as the UK ever managed).

I have 3 cameras, you can see (Gear list for details)

1) The Nikon D610 is my "pro" camera. I use it when I don't mind carrying a big load to get the goods. Like kids' sports. It's my camera I use when I don't mind being high-profile.

2) The Canon PowerShot G9X is my pocket camera. It lives in my weekday messenger bag that I take to work. It's my go-to camera for grab shots, anywhere. It is so good at everyday photos, I almost feel guilty for having other cameras. It is humble, but competent. Like a Shaolin monk/kung fu master.

3) The Panasonic FZ1000. Jack of all trades camera. I take this along when I don't want to commit enough to carry the big Nikon, but I think I'll need more telephoto than the little Canon can offer. If I'm honest with myself, this could replace the Nikon 90% of the time. Sure the Nikon results are better, but not usually to the extent that I can see it in the photos without zooming way in. (exception being and wider or longer focal lengths than the FZ can handle)

4) Pentax MX-1. This one lives in my desk drawer at work. I need to take product photos as part of my job. My colleagues all use their cell phones, which are adequate to the job, if the "photographer" is careful. This is overkill for the job, but I take a certain sense of pride in probably having the best technical photos in the company. The funny thing about this one is that the photos it delivers are as good as those from the little Canon, even though the sensor is quite small in comparison. The lens is just that much better. (it is the same lens as the Olympus XZ-1 and -2 had, but with a stronger body with vintage aesthetic)

5) Pentax Q7 System. This is for when I'd normally take the Canon, or Panasonic, but having fun shooting is the most important part. It's kind of an in-between camera. Not as portable as the Canon G9X, but with more lens options. Not as tidy as the all-in-one FZ1000, but more fun to shoot with. This is the most fun camera I own. If I had only one camera to keep, it might just be this one, low-light be damned.

A small Nikon L620 goes in the pocket when I'm just out for fun images and am not trophy hunting. It's capable of some surprisingly good images in optimum situations.

When you need it, it's nice to have!

I've been taking a long look at this camera. I've really used my Canon S90 a lot more than I thought I would. And just wondering how much better a Canon G9X would be?

Sometimes I think I missed the boat on this one. :(

But it wasn't out when I got my Q.

And the Q is another camera that I ended up using a heck lot more than I thought I would. I'm wondering if Pentax has any tricks up its sleeves for this fall. If not, I've been thinking of either getting the 06 lens or a Q7.

We'll see . . . LOL.

I'm such a Digicam Junkie! LOL!

I don't really have a primary camera--I have favorite lenses and camera bodies to put them on. (All are 16 mp APS-C and I shoot jpeg only, so the lenses really are the major determining factor in the output.) I have the classic 35-50-85mm prime trio, represented by my Fuji X100T, Fuji X-T10 +Fuji 35mm f/1.4, and Pentax K-5iis+Pentax DA*55mm f/1.4 respectively, plus the Pentax 100mm f/2.8 Macro and the Pentax 55-300mm WR zoom as alternate lenses for the DSLR. I consider this a full kit that covers everything I like to do, and am overjoyed to finally get to that point.

My backup/small camera is a Fuji X10 point and shoot. This little beast is getting a bit old in the tooth and is behind the times technically in terms of sensor size and lack of an EVF, but I have yet to find anything that is as sturdy, fun to shoot with, and yes, pretty. When I do, I am open to upgrading.

Backing up my backup camera are my Nexus 5 phone (a very decent snapshot camera with a wide prime) and a Polaroid Cube toy camera just for fun. These two are in my pockets at all times.

I feel the same way about my Fuji X-T10. It reminds my so much of our Pentax MX in weight and handling, and I shoot it like an ME Super in aperture priority.

Up until 2 months ago, my main camera was an E-PM2, and my other camera was an E-PM2. I've since switched out one of the E-PM2s for an E-M1, so I guess I can say my other camera is now my (first) E-PM2. The E-M1 goes out with the big guns, the E-PM2 goes out with a couple of small primes.

There's also an Olympus XZ-1 that goes out once a year, but the size discrepancy between it and the E-PM2 with 12-32 is so small that I usually just grab the E-PM2, so much so that I've forgotten how to use the XZ-1 (despite it being my only camera for nearly 3 years).

I have other cameras, but I don't really use them. But for all practical purposes, it's either my E-M10, or my smartphone.

I'm a pro and always buy two identical camera bodies when upgrading. This way the color, contrast, image quality and resolution is matched across an assignment. I'm never stuck in a situation where I need to decide to use the "best" camera for a critical shot, and never fumbling a setting when working in a pressure situation. Accessories, grips, batteries, strobes, cards and other do-dads are compatible.

Right now I'm shooting two 5D III bodies, but I've used two 1D, 1DII and 5D II in the past.

Good question!

I'm a wedding and event shooter. I just purchased a D5 which will be my main body during ceremony and reception. My second body is a D4, which I'll continue to use as my main body for couples and bridal party photos. My third body is a D750, which gets some occasional use at weddings but I use more regularly for real estate work.

Between the three I have every avenue of need covered, from high ISO to amazing DR. There's no longer a weak point for me.

Primary is Pentax k3.

For awhile i had a Canon D40 - but gave that to my daughter.

I also have a Hassey 500C - but have not put any film in since taking classes at local college - last film lab here closed.

Being a pro I have duplicate equipment, except in my case one body is black and one is silver:

But I also have a Panasonic GH1:
