D500 QXD card slot and CF

Is the QXD card slot the same as CF? Can I use CF cards in the D500?

No, CF and XQD are 2 different formats.

They created XQD because they couldn't make the older technologies fast enough for the recent needs of the cameras. They just couldn't transfer fast enough. The fastest XQD card is much faster than SD or CF cards. The D500 has 2 slots, one XQD slot and one SD that can take the fastest cards out of each technology.
