In that other thread, some dude had a video showing that it worked on his android 6 tablet but over Wifi, instead of Bluetooth. This is incredibly frustrating for me. The NX1's "smart" camera features are now useless because Samsung can't be bothered to update their Android app to work with Android M. Android M was released in October 2015. That is basically a year after the camera was released. I can't believe how quickly Samsung dropped support. It's pretty shameful for a tech company to have all the "smart" features in their flagship camera rendered useless so quickly because they refuse to update their apps. That's what mine does on my Android 6 tablet. It only works on my Android 5 Lollipop phone.
I don't have Twitter so please post their response, if possible. Thanks!I tweeted them asking what's up with app not available. They asked me to DM them immediately. I think more people should ask them in public tweets. Might help.
So I have one tablet that would do this %100 of the time and I found a work around.Add my name to the list of affected users. I emailed the developer too, and I agree, it is unfortunate that both the local name of the address is "scam"wifi and the domain is just a generic "gmail.com". I am not even confident that I will receive a response, but if I do, I will post it here. Here is my email message to the developer...
Also, I am going to give Sendeva's recommendation from above a shot when I get in from the office this evening. Thanks ;-)I own a Samsung NX1, and I specifically moved from Windows Phone and purchased a Samsung phone to have this app and the best possible experience with my camera. I am extremely disappointed that my phone will not pair with my camera via this app. This app, and the potential to share my photos from my camera to my phone (and ultimately social media websites) in the field, was one of the major considerations I made in selecting the Samsung S7 Edge.
Edit: I was able to get the application installed from the files at the link. My antivirus software didn't have a problem with the files nor did the antivirus on the phone, so I think you should be fine.
While I was able to get the application installed, and my camera was recognized, it has failed to connect the two for any kind of transfer. I will also add that "Smart Network Switch" is set to Off, per recommendation.
The application has not moved beyond this point... The loading icon just spins while it "connects."
I just tried this again on my Nexus tablet and wasn't able to find the 'Samsung Smart Switch' app in the Play Store. Anyone else?I have one tablet that would do this %100 of the time and I found a work around.
Install Samsung camera manager from the apk (downloaded)
Install from the play store:
-Samsung Smart Switch (it installs the much needed Samsung accessory service)
- Samsung MobileLink
- Samsung Remote viewfinder (there will be 2 version on the playstore I installed both just to be safe)
- Samsung Smart Camera app
After doing so my NX1 will connect and work with the camera manager.
I do hope this helps people out.
I can handle the fact that Samsung stopped making cameras. What I do not accept is them not supporting product that is still available as new through some of their retailers. Complete BS! This has me really thinking of unloading all my gear. I use IOS and can still get the applications from the ITunes Store, but what if it is not compatible with the next OS? I'm screwed. Forget it, this is stupid to continue on with these jokers. I've been a loyal Samsung supporter, but I've hit my limit!
Installed everything you listed, still doesn't work on my NX500. FYI I have a galaxy note 4 running 6.0.1. Did you manage to connect your NX1 via bluetooth or wifi? Anyway neither bluetooth nor wifi work for me.So I have one tablet that would do this %100 of the time and I found a work around.Add my name to the list of affected users. This is a great idea! I'll send a tweet to Samsung USA. Companies hate bad press.I tweeted them asking what's up with app not available. They asked me to DM them immediately. I think more people should ask them in public tweets. Might help.
It would be nice if they could open source their discontinued apps or at least open up whatever API they're using so someone else could pick up where they left off. I'm not a developer, but that would at least give us a shot at getting something that works. This is a great idea! I'll send a tweet to Samsung USA. It would be nice if they SAID they were discontinuing their smart camera app support, not just pulling the required software. I realize they want to sell all their inventory, but this is just ridiculous for a major electronics manufacturer like Samsung to be this cavalier in their attitude towards their customers. It would be nice if they could open source their discontinued apps or at least open up whatever API they're using so someone else could pick up where they left off. But I would not rule out buying a Samsung product again as they do make high quality products. I'd just be extremely wary.
