Canon Pro-1000 Maintenance Tank Full??

So I have the Canon Pro-1000 that was part of the service recall for leaking (I was probably one of the first people to order it from BandH) -- but I don't think the issue I'm having with that unit is the reason for the recall. I haven't printed "that" much with it. Maybe 40-50 8x10s and 15 17x22s yet my printer now has a full maintenance tank. It stopped printing 80% through a 5 dollar 17x22 canson sheet of photographique (FML) with the support code 1720 "The Maintenance cartridge is full." Now I thought it was odd a few weeks ago when when the first support code popped up saying the maintenance cartridge was almost full when I had maybe printed 30 8x10s and 10 17x22s -- followed by warnings that all the cartridges were running low.

So with all that said, I'm lucky that my printer was part of the service recall for leaking and I actually have a brand new unit sitting here that Canon sent me -- but has anyone had any issues like this? Like I said, the printer wasn't leaking that I could tell, and even if it was, why would the maintenance tank be full? Was I having some other sort of issue maybe? Wondering if anyone has any other feedback before I open the new replacement printer.

I just had to replace the maintenance tank in my Pro-1000 and two 11" x 17" prints later it's 20% full according to the status page.

I've only had this printer for a few months. My Epson 7600 needed only one new tank In 5 years.

This printer is also consuming copious amounts of the Chroma Optimizer. (?)

These printers run cleaning cycles when not used for 2.5 days as well when turned off and back on.

This the need for maintenance carts quite often! At least you can exchange them. What about the PRO-1??? That has to go in for servicing for $$$!

As far as the CO use? That is totally normal! You want amazing results on glossy and luster, never than even trhe P800? The. You will have to use CO full!

The Epson printers that use it ( R2000 R1900 R1800 R800 ) utilize at at about 4x the rate of any other color. That the way it is. You pay for those amazing results.

Joe, is it time for a video about the maintenance carts on canons?

Why sure! Have to get a Canon PRO 1000 first!

After selling off 7 of my older printers and doing some creative rearrangement I actually do have a spot for one PRO-1000!

New P800-PRO3880-Canon PRO-10 and PRO-1 now fill some of those recently vacated empty spots.

i was more on the line of the 100, 10 and 1

you constantly defend how this printer operates when it clearly is an absolute rip off and Canon should be holding its head in shame how its treating its customers with this absolute travesty.... how many people have to have a non working machine, or go through 2 sets of inks or maintenance cartridges etc, spending hundreds if not thousands needlessy before you start to wake up and demand Canon stops ripping its customers off. This printer is a money pit not worthy of anyones time and you can claim it just needs to be used lots all you want, but it's a travesty and shameful treatment of loyal customers. Get a grip

It should have an internal mechanism for doing the repetitive printing needed to avoid a purge. I should not have to use my computer and a separate program to keep it running while I'm away.

But complaining to people on this forum is not going to get you anywhere.

Certainly not 7 years after his post😉. A bit late I would say.

By the way, I love my pro1000. Not nearly as expensive to operate, as some want to believe and results are superb….over and over again.

If my pro1000 ever gives up, I’ll buy a new one right away.

I like the Pro1000, but I'm switching to an Epson for more flexible printing.

Good luck! I stay with Canon

Thanks. My artist friends tend towards Epson for the flexibility in printing.

I stay with Canon Pro1000, because of its reliability/very solid professional build quality/vacuum paper feeding/ease of use/ and ofcourse extremely high quality prints. I only print on Fine Art papers. You plan to go to the Epson P900?

What do you mean by flexibility in printing?

Imaging science-engineers at both companies are brilliant.

Inks-don't really know, although Epson keeps upgrading the name.

Mechanical quality-Yes, I have limited experience but favor Canon.

Just hope both companies continue to offer 13" and 17" models. It is just a tiny drop in today's inkjet printing universe.
