I just got the Canon G7X, for those that have experience with the camera any tips for shooting sports, action, fast moving objects...Im a beginner when it comes to cameras of this quality so any tips would be greatly appreciated

Based on what you describe here are my tips:

Shooting settings in general would be the typical fast shutter 1/250 or less (in Tv or M mode), Auto ISO and shoot in continuous (burst) mode with no AF.

Other personal preferences of mine:

1. Use Servo AF set to ON for continuous AF while half pressing. This disables AFL so if you don't like it, then turn Servo AF off and use AFL if possible. I also found continuous AF to be unreliable thus I turned it off but YMMV.

2. Set Ring Func or Movie Rec button to AFL or Servo depending on which one you use so it's always handy.

3. Use touch shutter ON, I find this helpful at times to capture the moment faster but does need getting used to.

All the best!
