Read the review of the Sony F505, design and features look like what I've been searching for...

When I searched for this camera online to get a price, couldnt find one.... Also I'm on a Mac G3

and would like to know whether this will present ANY problem. Can anyone help me with this?

Mari, is this a relatively new Mac G3 with USB ports? If so, the Sony F505 comes equipped with the cable and Mac-compatible drivers necessary for quick file transfer between camera and computer. If your computer is pre-USB, then there are other solutions for file transfer, but they will require an additional purchase (discussed elsewhere in this forum).

Try pcWonders.com for the best price. Also, if you don't live in New Jersey, you won't pay any taxes. I think they are sellilng the camera at about $860. I bought a coolpix 950 from them and it arrived in two days. Good luck.

Hi Mari. I own a 505, and I work for Apple. Work just gave me
a G3 laptop, it works great with it. All you do is drag and drop a
few extensions from the USB driver CD into your system folder,
and the USB will work fine. I can only vouch for the new line
of laptops and I speak only for myself not the company.
I have OS 9 on my laptop.

I also own a few PCs, USB works great with win98, and
doesn't work at all with Win95, even version "B" and "C"
that are supposed to work with USB. I experienced this
first hand on my PC laptop.

I really like the camera. I wish aperture/shutter priority
were more readily accessible, I wish it had a viewfinder
and hot shoe, I wish sony didn't charge so much for
their pcmcia adaptor. Which is what I really should be
using on my laptop...

we love the F505 camera. got it from virtual-world.com. it's priced at 899. I called and received it the next day with no shipping costs or sales tax.
