Some of us out there love old digital cameras, not all but there are some true classics out there for example the canon 20D now very cheap and very good still or even the Nikon D100 which ive not owned but looks great also or even the Fujifilm S3 pro.
I picked up a Canon G5 for £40 UK for a try. Old cameras are not for everyone but i am doing this just incase someone else is thinking of getting one cheap.
From 2003 its a old camera but, its not bad at all in fact i still use it more than my Canon Eos M or my Lumia 950 phone. It is slow to focus and start up and is quite bulky for modern standards but for its age i am really impressed. This camera is built well very strong, has lots of buttons and features even a built in ND and two customisable settings on the dial i use for quick setting up.
Shooting with the camera is great i love the rangefinder style and its size is nice to hold its top extra LCD status screen is great also you can twist the screen around and not need the main LCD screen at all like you would a film camera. and just you the top LCD and the viewfinder. The viewfinder is small but ive got used to it. I have DSLRs and this camera really feels more like a mini DSLR than any other compact ive ever used. The 5MP is enough for me and what i use it for street mainly.
Its my take in my bag camera i dont worry about it getting knocked etc... its really fun to use and the fast lens is very usefull, you can get some really nice looking shallow depth of field pictures.
Overall its a great outside camera, and useful and not too big and for street photography, not so good in low light high iso in my opinion, except on a tripod with a long exposure on low iso. The pictures are quite sharp and for a tiny sensor the pictures look good even now, they have a different look is what id say, the 5MP and old tech makes the pictures look a certain way almost film like.
Its also funny people always say wow nice camera looks expensive...... which i was back in 2003, but still is worth a go even now. Its a classic in my opinion.
