I was able to get my first shots of some hawks. These are from the Delevan National Wildlife Refuge in N. Calif. Thanks for looking.

I think this is a Red Tailed Hawk due to the red tail feathers not shown.

Anyone know this one?

All three images are stunningly good, but the details in the first one are fantastic and at the telephoto end to boot! Besides, I know from personal experience how difficult is to shoot such raptors with a keen attention to everything and with telescopes as eyes :)

I'm sorry I can't answer your question.

Congratulations,

Augustin

Excellent shots, I prefer the first one ;-) Zdenka

Really nice shots, Dave.

I think the second one is a Juvenile Red-tailed Hawk.

Great captures of a hard to catch subject, nice work.

You're so right they are hard to catch. I practically spent my whole weekend trying not to scare birds. And it's like a stampede once one hears you and takes to running top-of the-water flight.

I realized I don't even have any Camo clothes, which will be my next camera related purchase.

The P900 isn't very good at catching birds in flight, once I scared them away, but I tried anyway:

Not a great shot, but sometimes they glide slow enough to get some focus.
