Hi

I am using the Nikon D800. Currently with the old Sigma 15-30 D- EX IF. Not used all the time, but thinking of moving to either the Tokina AT-16-28 -F2.8 - or Tamron 15-30 F2.8. Question is, would I notice a marked improvement in overall picture quality, rarely use filters, so not a major issue.

Use for scenic views, indoor work & as a walk about lens in town.

Thanks for your comments

The Tammy 15-30 is the current king in this range at this moment in time !

Thought about it myself, but I have decided to stay with primes for now. The Nikon 20mm F1.8 is a great lens. You then have the option to use the 1.2 crop mode which then also gives you a first class 24mm. Then I have the 35mm F1.8 which is just about the sharpest lens I have ever come across bar none. Use this with 1.2 crop and I also get a 42mm. If you then add the 60mm macro you get 60 and 72mm :)

Thank you both for taking the time to reply. Reading the reports, & with your comments & from other sources, I guess the Tammy is the way to.

Thank to you both for taking the time to respond.

I have the Tokina 16-28 and it is a really good lens. Best value for the money. I replaced my Nikon 16-35 with the Tokina.

Hi Larry,

Thanks Larry that is one I had not thought of, along with the Sigma 12-24, I understand it may be not too good at 12mm, but overall it seems to have some good reviews. Any thoughts on the Sigma for anybody?

Many thanks

Tony

I'm using the Tamron 15-30 on my D750 and this lens is a must have. I'm glad I bought it over the Nikon 14-24.

Hi Reaper,

That seems to be the general view, however, the Sigma12-24 look interesting, any thoughts?

Thanks for your reply & info
