Hi all,

Just got an LX100 for Christmas, and was lucky enough to be able to do a photo test with my cousin at an abandoned Iowa country house (near my Grandma). Since I'm still learning the ropes of the LX100 VS my other cameras/lenses, would love to get your feedback! All processing was done in Lightroom CC, no presets as I want to learn how to tame the camera first a bit. Couple notes-

1. The doll was a prop from the attic at my Grandma's house, everything else was already there.

2. The blue cast in some of the photos was actually the natural light?!?

3. I fell through the floor taking pictures and nearly landed 18ft below on a concrete basement slab, so I don't think the house will last for another round on a future visit.

It looks to me like you got a good handle on the operation of the camera very quickly. Excellent work. I really enjoyed them. Thanks for providing.

Glad you are OK, walking around such places can be very dangerous.

Cheers

You're obviously having fun, which is the main thing! I'm a bit confused by that blue cast, which is only in some pictures - I'd expect get to get that outdoors if I'd left the white balance on the 'artificial light' setting for indoors. My favourite shots are mostly the ones without the blue cast.

There are some wonderful, brooding images here.

I'm not familiar with the LX100, per se, but I'm intrigued by that heavy blue cast.

If it's from leaving White Balance on "Tungsten" (and it looks too blue for that to me) -and if you want to prevent it, I'd just leave White Balance on automatic which works very well at least in other Panasonic cameras. IMHO, people tend to get too uptight about WB which usually is easily fixed in PP.

Of course the doll is an attention-getter, I took the liberty of making it a bit more on the sepia side, while retaining some other color:

I also notice a lot of vignetting (which I minimized, above) in a lot of these shots - is this common with the LX100, or did you add it?

Thanks for posting these.

Love the edits!! I added the vingetting- I felt it added to the sky hue a bit. The blue cast was pretty much the exact color of the sky-it was at dusk and cloudless in rural iowa. Totally weird though. WB was set for auto....I was in such a crunch for light that I didn't want to mess around with that setting. The few that don't actually were using a speed light.

I love the sepia tone on that shot, thank you for that!

Great set of images. I like the blue because for me it sets the mood. Bruce

Some interesting images, though the heavy blue cast puts me off a bit.
