Just received the RRS tripod plat for the GX8 and, as usual, they've done a nice job. Fits perfect, nothing blocked, and is finished to their usual standards. Now....where did I put that tripod?

I've had several of their ArcaSwiss compatible camera plates. I just received one for my GX7 - as you described yours, it fits perfectly. I cringe when I think of screwing a tripod camera screw into my cameras.

Thanks for the heads-up. I will be ordering one.

It's true: once you use one of these there's no going back. Mounting, and flipping form horizontal to vertical is just too easy.

I realize this is an older thread but I went to the RRS site to purchase a plate for a GX8 on this page: http://www.reallyrightstuff.com/Quick-Release/Camera-Plates-L-Plates/Plates-for-Panasonic/GX8

But I just get an empty box for the GX8. Like there are no plates available. All the other Panasonic cameras on that page have plates listed.

I e-mailed them but have not received a response yet.

Here you go. The plate has a small lip which is toward the front of the camera. It has worked fine for me, no twisting or loosening, nice and compact, can be clamped in front-to-back or sideways.

I have one of these on my GX7, similar size, but it does not have the lip: http://www.reallyrightstuff.com/BPnS-Bidirectional-plate-for-Point-n-Shoot

I bought one of these for my GM5, but later I bought another brand that is similarly skinny but lets you screw in a tripod to the plate, which is handy for a gorilla-pod if I'm not taking my big tripod: http://www.reallyrightstuff.com/BPnS-S-Narrow-plate-for-pocket-Point-n-Shoot

Thanks, Brent! I appreciate you taking the time to post those photos. That plate looks perfect for my needs. You're my hero for today.

RRS got back to me and said there is a problem with the website. In the meantime, this is a direct link to a plate for the GX8: http://www.reallyrightstuff.com/product/12601
It doesn't even show an image for that "BGX8" plate, but at that price presumably it is just the bottom plate, like this BGX7 plate for the GX7: http://www.reallyrightstuff.com/BGX7-Plate-for-Lumix-GX7

and if you want the "L" component, you have to buy that separately, so $120 total for the GX7: http://www.reallyrightstuff.com/BGX7-L-L-component-for-BGX7-plate

Personally, I don't see a need for the bigger bottom plate unless you want to connect the "L" component on the side. And in that case, will the "L" component for the GX7 work with it? They don't list a BGX8-L part.
