Shading Effect in SPP6.3.0 Monochrome

Does anyone know what the Shading Effect does to the image in the Monochrome tab of SPP?

this is for removing vignetting effects or - artistic - to add such

radius = how wide is the circle of the vignette

strength= how much shading effect to compensate

Oh yeah... I had to pull the sliders to the extremes to see it...thank you
