I'm looking into photo printers and read that the S900 was top rated.

Can anyone who owns the printer let me know if it's good? or can anyone recommend a different printer?

Thanks!

Hi,

I own the canon S820 and with use of "Canon photo paper pro PR-101" the foto-quality is excellent ( like S900), but the S900 is very much faster!

I own the S900....Flawless printer ....Photo paper pro is fabulous, but pricey..A great option is the office depot premium photo paper..100 sheets for around 30.00..the printer is a good , solid machine,,

Ken,

I purchased the S900 about three weeks ago. So far I am pleased with it. I don't believe that the type print quality is as good as my HP Laser Printer, but that's not what I purchased it for. Photo's seem to be of very high quality with almost universal acclaim from those that view them. At this point I have stuck to Canon paper stock using only Photo Paper Plus Glossy. I have heard here that if one strays from the branded products that the result can be circumspect.

Only paid $218 at Fry's for it, with a $30.00 price match. I considered the the S830D and the Epson 2200. The 830D was more expensive, and I did not need the direct connection or the on machine controls. The 2200 was substantially more expensive, hard to find, slower, and the differential in the quality of the final product was not that discernable.

I tried to buy the printer at my local best buy for $249, but the salesperson said that the S900 was out of stock and discontinued...!??

Now why would Canon do that? A newer model coming out maybe?

Anyone else hear any such a thing?

I wouldn't believe any rumor from a chain store salesperson.

Nevertheless, and this is pure speculation by me, since the i850 came out I have expected that Canon would do a refresh of the S900 to incorporate the 2pl droplets with 6 colors (vs. i850's 3 colors) and the faster S900 speed. As it stands, the i850 for $169 after rebate at normal retail price is a great deal.

The S900 is a fantastic printer with amazing photo output. The printer is very fast too. Operational noise is low. I have owned several photo printers and this is the best so far. Stick with Canon paper for best results. Epson printers suck, noisy and slow, I have owned three and have been disapointed with all of them. I will never go back to Epson. Get the Canon, you will not be disappointed.
I use the G2, 420 ex flash, S900 printer.

I love my s900! i have the canon g1 and the pictures are outstanding. the s9000 is just like the s900 except it has one extra feature. it can print 11x14's. you won't be disappointed. the cartridges are about 12.00 apiece which is its only downfall. unless you find a place on the net thats cheaper.
