Hi,

I am moving to the Sony A7Rii in the New Year and retiring my 6D to back up purposes. Currently looking at the different mounts available, some good and some bad.

Has anyone used one of these and is it AF compatible?

I am currently using a Meike MK600 Speedlite (580EXii clone) along side my 600EX-RT and it has never skipped a beat in nearly 2 years.

Thanks in advance

I've been looking to buy a canon adapter too. That one you linked has the contacts and the listing states;

2.Fully electronic mount adapter connect the EF lenses, to give full play to the image stabilizer and the AF shooting performance.

Can't really find much on the internet about it though. Most likely it's a clone of or based on the earlier metabones.

The most common adapters I've read of are the metabones (£3xx?), viltrox (£100?) and commlite (£60?). At £42 its probably worth a punt ;)

Thanks, ive actually found it less than half that price on a chinese wholesale website by DPR would allow me to post the link so for £20 its definitely worth a go I think

Wow, £20?! That's worth a shot. Does that include delivery and tax?

Any chance you could PM a link?

Well they have a web site but Google screams "MALWARE" everytime I try to access it.

FYI: Neewer seems to be selling the same this same unit on Amazon as "NW-S-AF4 EMount-EF", ASIN number: B016W8RAZ6

Hi,

Did anybody try this adapter ? It looks better than Fotodiox and Commlite, since it is firmware upgradable. I did not find any official website that provides firmwares, though? :)

What do you think?

Do you have a link to this website?

I'm protected under a layer of VMWare, so the website can't do anything.

Everything is better than Commlite, Commlite is among the two worst adapters. Please see this video:

As far as I know:

The two worst: Commlite, Fotga

Currently unknown for me: Meike, Neewer, Fotodiox

Confirmed decent results: Viltrox, Metabones

hey thank you for pointing at the possible amazon version. On the amazon page, first there is nothing about the firmware upgrade but only a photo showing the usb input. second the reviews look totally unrelated ! :)

This adapter looks identical to the Neewer NW-S-AF4, which just showed up on the market within the last week. http://www.amazon.com/Neewer-Electronic-Auto-focus-Auto-exposure-Auto-aperture/dp/B016W8RAZ6/ - I have one on order, but they won't be shipping out until Monday. (It says they come into stock today, but Amazon's delivery estimate indicates it won't actually ship until Monday.)

It's so new that I don't think ANYONE has used this adapter yet.

It appears to have a USB port for firmware upgrades, but I have yet to see a download of an updater anywhere. Kind of wondering if this is a full-blown Metabones IV clone.

Yep ... It is also listed under the category 'Kitchen and Dining' (go figure) :-|

FYI: I have one on order so I will try to post something on it when it comes in.

Ahah :)

I contacted to Amazon about it. Let's hope they send the right product :)

I bought one for 60 USD, not Meike but Neewer version. I'll share my opinions soon...

Unfortunately, a lot of Amazon vendors abuse the "Color/Style" choice menu in order to sell multiple almost completely unrelated products under the same listing.

I don't know if this is by choice or Amazon's system being REALLY stupid, but it's annoying as hell to try and find reviews relevant to a product. If you go to "read all reviews", somewhere you can filter them by "color/style" - there are no reviews for this specific product yet.

I tried one and infinity focusing was poor. In fact I tried two of these cheaper adaptors and neither focused past infinity on two separate lenses.

I am so panicked now!

Are you specifically talking about Neewer/Meike adapters with USB input?

I'll go to California next week and am planning to use the adapter with Tamron 70-300 VC.

Thank you. I will buy a used adapter such as Fotodiox or Commlite (so the owner can tell me about the focus :)) before going to the trip. I may sell it later, if Neewer is ok.

Thanks again..

Yes, that's the one, however, try it, you may not have a problem, I may have been unlucky. Neither of the two adaptors I tried would focus past infinity, in fact one stopped short of it and was faulty in that regard (not the Meike). The Meike stopped hard virtually on infinity though I couldn't be totally sure as it wouldn't go past it, which was an issue to me as well as I couldn't be sure. I returned both and decided I would only use native lenses going forward. Either way, focusing at infinity should be what you need to check first when you get it.

No problem, I hope it works out and enjoy your trip.

"... focus past infinity ..."

Infinity focus being defined as the the most distant point to which the lens is supposed to be designed to focus. With a simple lens and a FF 35mm sensor this would be the closest point point between the lens and the sensor where the image circle coincides with the corners of the sensor rectangle. Forgive my ignorance but I would expect most lenses to hit a hard stop at that point.
