I was looking at C1P supported lens list and wow, was I disappointed. They don't even support the Sigma 50mm Art, the popular Nikon 35mm f/1.8G, Zero Tamron, and many other lenses. I have been happy with my C1 otherwise, but just noticed its extremely limited lens support when looking to expand my lens collection. What can you do in lens correction if the lens is not supported?

Regarding the CA correction, I know that C1 can analyze CA on a per image basis, can you still do that on images shot with a lens that's not supported? What about the 'purple fringing' correction slider?

According to this article , you can user 'manufacture profile' for lens correction, or you can create you own lens profile. How does that work? And I suppose camera in-body lens correction will not be carried to C1 in RAW, correct? Thank you.

No it clearly says Manufacture Profile is used and an example is shown. Why do you think it is not ?

This link tells you how to make your own profile.

In C1 Lens Correction you can chose Profile Generic or Generic Pincushion. You can also adjust the sliders to taste, the distortion slider when moved overlays a grid.

CA can be used on unsupported lens just tick the checkbox and then click on three dots in square and select analyse. Works on my unsupported Nikon 24 - 120 f3.5 - f4.5. Don't forget that you can save these adjustments as a user preset.

I tried a RAW file with an unsupported lens. The 'purple fringe' slider does a decent job correcting the image, while I couldn't visually see a difference with the CA correction. According to C1 the two are different.

I shoot a MFDB on a tech cam that has movements. I’ve been using C1 for several years for these files. The best way to correct a lens is to use an opaque piece of plastic to each shot that has the same setting at that venue or to create your own profile at specific settings.

I personally do this at each venue, but it’s different process with many who who don’t shoot as slowly as I do with a tech cam. I think if you look at the C1 manual for the LCC (Lens Cast Calibration) process this is explained fairly clearly. Lens cast (purple and green fringing), vignette gets), and dust removal can be corrected in this way. If the LCC is shot at your venue at the end of your work, I find the center of the LCC shot, after LCC processing, does a pretty good job of providing white balance.

It’s certainly not an intuitive process but became fairly rote for me. I find with zoom lenses and non standard lenses (older, esoteric, etc.) this is the best way to correct for these variations.

YMMV
