It is an excellent camera. Believe it or not, the K7, at base ISO, is one of the nicest cameras out there for skin tone rendering.I am thinking of adding a K-3, I plan on doing studio portraits and we as some landscapes. Is this the right choice ?
Thanks for your input !!
I'd say Nikon has a better flash system for Wedding Photography, and shooting in crowds at parties, where you are constantly changing distances and background lighting, and want the system to adjust exposure automatically for a group of flashes. However, For Studio work, that might include more static portraits, I like to control everything with large studio strobes using manual settings, and don't care about Pentax's relatively poor control of groups of flashes.People that are super serious about studio work usually gravitate towards Nikon as it has the best flash system. But Canon is very good also. Pentax flash systems are not as well developed. Of course that is not to say you can't get excellent results from a K3 for studio portraits.
A lot of us use real studio lights rather than hopped up speedlights because we are super serious. For us, it really doesn't matter if the camera maker has a good flash system or not. My K3 and my X-T1 are just as good in the studio as the latest and greatest Nikon as far as my studio flash is concerned.People that are super serious about studio work usually gravitate towards Nikon as it has the best flash system. But Canon is very good also. Pentax flash systems are not as well developed. Of course that is not to say you can't get excellent results from a K3 for studio portraits.

In general, I think the K-3 is well suited to almost any kind of photography, especially if you want a smaller camera body.
