Are there any alternatives to the Manfrotto 293 lens support?

it's not for an enormous telephoto or anything. It's for two lenses around 80-100mm long (not focal length) and weighing just under a kilogram. They don't have a tripod collar.

it's for long exposures so I want to support the lens.

ideally something with an Arca fit and not heavy itself.

i've seen people wedge a cork under the lens, but to do this I'd need to get a rail or something to hold it underneath.

Thanks.

I don't know how you'd get around the rail? These arca-swiss pieces can do it for you.

Of course you could buy the RRS solution but it is more then twice the price of the pieces I showed you in the message above.

This is Arca-Swiss compatible and should be cheaper than the RRS alternative. Try getting in contact with the authorised dealers in the UK, Camera Gear UK . I've found them to be very responsive and helpful.
