I have a buddy with a good background in photography, but not much money right now. He would like a c700, as he has fiddle with mine a bit. My question is, does he really want one, or would he be better off paying $50-$100 more for the 730? It seems that the money is really an issue. He also is wanting that 10x pretty badly, so it seems it's one of these two cameras. Also, any great places to obtain these?

Thanks in advance,

Joe

I just picked up a C-700 for $270 of Ebay for my girlfriend so she wouldn't be tempted to touch my E-20 and risk pain of death. I would be interested in knowing where I could get a C-730 for $350, because I'd make a helluva lot of money.

So anyway, I'd say go refurbished through Ebay. I've had pretty good experience with them.

If a picture paints a 1,000 words, how come mine only make 3?

If money is a problem, the c700 will be less expensive. I have been shooting withthe c700 for a year and i still love it. i don't think the 3mp is compensating for 10x zoom and the c700 is pretty easy to handheld at full zoom, at least for me.

They are both good camera but i suggest your friend to look at sample and features from both camera and decide. Also what will he do with it? if he will be printing a lot and want to have the best at 8 x 10 then 3mp will be better..but if he want it to print at 4 x 6 or 5 x 7 and for the web, then the 2mp is fine. I printed at 8 x 10 and it looked very good.

You can find a c700 refurbished for about 260$ or a brand new for a little more. The refurbished has a 3 months warranty but he can buy an extended warranty 2 years from Olympus within 90 days of purchase for about 50$ or a 5 years Mack warranty for about 40$.

Or you could have him buy yours?
A special one of a kind model. Maybe you can even sign it or something.
