Which store has good return policy?

I live in Virginia US. Really think that A7rII is probably the one. However I thought that about a7ii as well until I try it out at best buy and the autofocus was a let down. I definitely want to try for a short time before I decide to keep it. Unfortunately there seems to be online option only at the moment so which is best?
 
I think B&H has a 30-day return policy. I've had a few things that I'd sent back to B&H and never had any issues within the 30 day period.

Amazon is good, Ive returned cameras to them before.

I have worked in e commerce and all major stores have plans for return rates on their products. because you can't try out the product first, they know they will get returns and build that into their pricing.

I just returned a Zeiss Loxia to B&H - no issues, no restocking. I just paid the return shipping and insurance.

I have purchased may thousands of dollars of goods from them over the years, so they could soon see if I'm messing them around.

with people "buying" equipment just to try it out (or take it on a short vacation), then returning it. Same equipment then gets sold as "new" to real customers. Do it too many times, and you will get blocked permanently from Amazon. Hope B&H and other dealers have similar policy.
 
if you are a legit customer and occasionally return something cause it doesn't fit your expectations, that's OK. If someone comes to "buy" without any intention to keep it, that's where I see crossing the line.

When ordering wine in a restaurant, it is my policy to refuse the bottle if and only if the wine is corked, oxidized, has volatile acidity, or is otherwise defective. I don't return a bottle simply because I don't like it.

Similarly, when ordering hardware over the web, it is my policy to return products which are defective. I don't return products simply because I don't like the way they're designed.

If that makes me a patsy, so be it.

That's my own personal philosophy. I wouldn't presume to say that it's the only way to operate.

The problem is people got burned on a7 thru a7ii because af sucks in low light or for tracking fast kids for example. Sony people made a big advertisement about how great a7r2 af is with videos of tracking cars etc. yet what I am reading in another thread here causes me great concern that claims are just claims and we are getting more of the same. Lack of first users here talking about af and concentrating on picture quality boasting instead is another cause of concern. You are paying $3200 for a camera with autofocus worse than 8 year old dslr there is a problem. But I won't know until I try. I know Sony can do it because they did it on a6000. I'll probably buy on Amazon and if af sucks I will send it back.

What about shipping return fee and restocking fee?
No restocking fee, but you pay for return shipping. Paying for return shipping is the least you could do if you're going to return a camera due to buyers remorse.
Our return policy time period is 30 days. We reserve the right to apply a restock fee if a returned item is not in the as-new condition our return policy includes. We include a pre-paid UPS return label for in-USA returns if the reason for the return is our error or exchanging a defective product. If the reason for the return is you changed your mind, the cost of return shipping is on you.

The only thing I have ever returned to B&H was a POS drone (in fact I had to do it twice the manufacturers QC was so bad). Those DJI drone cameras were horrible and I finally just kept the third one because I found out how to go in and correct the problem myself. That drone was the biggest POS I have ever owned but I accepted that I should of done my homework better and never impulse buy something like this..... I did not return it because I made a buying mistake. Instead I took the third one flew it maybe 4 times and sold it for a loss. It was not B&H's fault I decided to buy a horrible product (though it surprises me that B&H would continue to sell this companies junk as I feel B&H is usually very good about only selling quality merchandise).

I don't think it is fair to the retailers or to future customers to buy a camera knowing you are just going to try it out and return it. A QC issue is something else entirely but to "buy to try" should be done at a brick and mortar store at their showcase with their store copy.

That's not what OP said.

If it's within the store (or corporate, more often than not) policy to return something within a specified time period, it doesn't matter why. Returning an item because it doesn't perform in the way you need it to is well within reasonable terms of your average policy.

Buying with the intent to return regardless of how well the equipment works is certainly not my idea of 'okay' but it's not for me to dictate store policy or how people live their lives.

You really have to do it excessively to incur that reaction.
 
he said a7ii single focus is not acceptable to him. there is zero chance he is going to keep a7rii. there is more probability an huge asteroid will hit earth in 2015.
