I've been using the very convenient "FastPictureViewer Codec Pack 3.8 Windows Add-In (32/64 bit) (3.8.0.96)" in Win 8.1 for some time now - but, after the move to Win 10 earlier this week, no longer get picture icons in Windows Explorer for some examples of RAW, PSD and DNG files - though with no noticable pattern as to which ones still work, and which don't.

Non-Luddite suggestions welcome!

Examples, with various Samsung NX3000 files....

Before FPV

After installing FPV

... and today...

Also, is there any sign of further RAW codecs having been added by MS in the update - if I might have to uninstall the FPV for a while?

Have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling the FastPictureViewer Codec Pack? Likely, the registration did not migrate when you upgrated from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10.

Let us know.

Axel,

Many thanks for the advice - and also for your excellent product!

Seems that MS haven't added a codec for my Samsung NX3000 - here's the same folder after uninstalling FPV...

Without FPV, and seemingly no new codec from MS in Win10 ?

.... and how it looks now that I've reinstalled your codec pack....

Hurrah!

I can also confirm that TIFs and PSDs are also back to displaying as they did before!

Thanks again,

Peter

I find it only seem to generate thumbnails for PSD file for the windows 10 user account that installed the Codec package. All other accounts get thumbnails for other Image file formats like camer RAW but not PSD files,

In windows 7 I found that I had to install a codec pack to view my raw files, in Windows 10 I have found that this is not needed, it appears to be already built in.

I haven`t looked at any DNG files yet, maybe this bit has not yet been fixed.

Edit, just been and checked, it only appears to be effecting dng`s.

Those who've struggled through to the end of this week's major Windows 10 update may find that one more job is called for.... reinstallation of their FastPicture Viewer codec pack, as was necessary when Win10 arrived!

It seems that Microsoft didn't take the opportunity to enlarge the list of cameras whose RAW files are supported in File Explorer etc, so you'll probably have to remove and reinstall FPV instead - but do first check where you saved a copy of your order number.....

I have the same problem as the original poster. After a Windows 10 update, FPV didn't display thumbnails for my ORF images anymore. Even CR2 files would not display...sometimes. Others would. I tried to uninstall or repair and could not. When I try to uninstall I get the message "The specified account already exists." I can't figure out where to find all the bits and pieces of the program to delete them manually. I just want it off. Any advice? Thanks.

Mine did uninstall, so I can't suggest a fix myself, but you can contact Axel through...

... or else there's a forum on the FPV website....

Surely quicker than joining DPR today, just to ask?

Hope it gets sorted!
