Love them both. Great work and very cute kid.

Thank you, Vidau

Thanks, Joel!

Well, you guyes were easy on me...so far. Thanks.

First one has a nice bright expression that isn't the typical cheesy child smile - and though moving her off the centre has benefits it isn't working for me. Three probs, she's too close to the left edge, the base crop is neither one thing nor the other, and the space created to the right has a good crop of yellow flowers but the right hand one feels cropped - the overall composition isn't sitting as happily as it could.

Second one works very well. Contemplative, natural, her expression and posture create a wonderful mood. Whether the blurred flower to the top right should be cloned out or not is down to whether you like blurred flowers in the top right. I'd keep it in but wouldn't miss it if it were gone.

the first is too far off center unless you have some text or such you want to drop in the hole.

It's not making any particular point for the composition.

The second is perfect. Needs Nothing Else.

The best photographic tool is between the photographer's ears, not in front of his nose.

Both are great pictures of your daughter! However, I agree with others that she is too close to the left edge in number one. Try cropping to a 4x5 aspect ratio. I believe the composition will be much better, and there will be less competition for the viewer's attention with the flowers at the far right removed.

For anyone that wants to see, here are the rest I chose to keep. I simply don't have time to pull everything into photoshop, and I know a few things could have been improved there. If/when I go to print, I will touch whatever I choose up a bit. The bit of something by her eye in a few of them for instance. There's also one or two that are a tad soft. These were all - including the ones I shared here - just quickly edited in LR.

Thanks, John. I just held my hand over the top one, and think you're right. 4x5 would be better. I need to start doing alternate crops more often -

No 1, Move this lovely child slightly closer to the flowers, turn her shoulders slightly, squaring her up just a bit, then and take one step to your left, still keeping her in the left third. Change the aperture to bring the flowers in to focus. She will be the prettiest of all the flowers. She is so much like one of my daughters friends it's uncanny. They are both in the early twenties now and still besties. By god your next 16 years or so years are going to be ""hard"" so get use to all the ups and down's.

Daughters A? :-D

No 2, would be great if it were a add for the dress.

When using the rule of thirds, draw an imaginary line through middle the face, and place that line at the one third spot.
