Did some stuff with her and brothers, but one of 'em started to act up, so I took advantage of her behaving herself. ;)

Thanks all for the kind remarks. This was a very difficult shoot because of her little brother acting up. I didn't want to waste away the time watching mother fight with her brother, so I asked her just to stand in while I popped some shots.

Lighting was with One Large Multidome Softbox camera right, approx 2 feet away from her, and featured out in front of her. One gold reflector camera left, approx 2 feet from her right side.

Pretty much it. Maya, it's not the Novatron lights, but what you do with any light source. Period. I could probably do this with any mfg. lights. Just happens that I have Novatron. These are what I first started out with a year ago.

This is the same lighting setup, I used in the Casey pics about a week or two ago. Matter of fact, I think I posted the lighting setup on my site and added the link to my post on DPR.

Best wishes to all, and have a great holiday..... ;)

hi Phillip,

after looking at your work, i believe you could do this with 2 light bulbs and a peice of tin foil if you had to. :-)

WOW. This is really nice. Looks like classic painting.
Nice model and also nice "atmosphere" in this picture.

Kind regards

You can have all the equipment in the studio you would ever need, but if you don't see the light, no pun intended, and don't know how to move it around, the equipment is no good.

This photography stuff, is about moving light where you need it, and taking away where to theres too much of it.

Hi Phillip,

i know what you are saying, this is why i respect your work so. I realize how much of your knowledge and skill you must have put into it. allot of people have great equipment but creating the image requires allot of skill concerning working with people(if you work with people) and knowledge of lighting. Right now, I do have some knowledge of light(no expreience with studio light though), i.m still learning about people( thats a never ending thing) and i need to upgrade my equipment eventually, so that is why i commented on the strobes. only because i am trying to ascertain what i will buy when i buy. right now, i dont feel i have fully explored what i can do with flash and photoshop( i have 420ex and st - e2 remote trigger - am about to invest in a 2nd unit). my joy right now is creating nice images with flash, under varied circumstances and then removing the backround and making them look as though they were done in a studio. when i'm bored with that, then i'll invest in studio lighting. Thanks again for sharing these wonderful images and thanks for sharing the info on your setup as well because it does help, at lease in the process of elimination - there is so much equipment out there - how can you know which to look at?
