Does anyone know how to tell if a Sony FE lens is US or international version?

Hmm.. I bought it used from BH a while back and was really just curious. No warranty card was in the box. How can I tell based on the box (assuming original packaging of course)?

Interesting. No Japanese lettering on my barcode label. I just did a live chat with Sony and they confirmed it is a US serial number. Sounds like your theory is pretty accurate. Thanks!
