Had a great trip down to the Nürburgring late May. Brought three cameras, two M3s, and one M2.

Have to say I cannot see any significant difference in IQ between them (M2 vs. M3), highlights, colors etc. seems to me equivalent after post processing.

Biggest surprise was how much I used the 11-22mm, and how little I used my fav. the 22mm f/2. 40mm f/2.8 STM got used a lot. That is a great lens too for the M3 IMO.

Nice photos, I really enjoyed them.

I don't have the M2 but do have the M and the M3 and I also don't seen a significant differnce in the images produced by either camera.

Did you have a chance to drive the ring or take a ring taxi? It must have been very exciting to be there.

Got to do a lap with a first gen. Ford Focus RS, other than that I was mostly riding shotgun in either the Ford, a second gen. Mini JCW, E46 M3 SMG or E92 M3 DKG.

Zerh gute! Danke!

Which is about the limit of the German I can remember from college. :-D

But then, taking German had a lot more to do with Fraulein Schultz in the front row, than any desire to speak a teutonic language!

I was sure they are driving on the right side in Germany, but your picture shows it's wrong :)

I've not driven a Focus, but the E46 and E92 M's are great cars to be driving on the Ring, even if you were riding shotgun. I have a non-M E46 and have driven the E92 M3. The only M3 i own, however, is a camera. How was the Mini with the JCW. I have driven a Mini S but not the JCW version.

A very interesting collection of cars you photographed. I have to say, however, I can't tell the M3 photos from the M2 ones without checking. Other reports on this forum have suggested that there is wide discrepancy between the two cameras in this regard. Have you noticed this?

Mark
The Mini felt really quick round the ring, and was almost ridiculously fast on the Autobahn for having "only" about 200bhp. Very impressed by that.
Most notable moment in the E46 was being roundly overtaken up from Adenau by an X5 M. Those things are insane.

There was also the usual assortment for very fast Golf MKIIs , Ford Fiestas and Renault Clio/Meganes.
As far as IQ, M(2) vs. M3 ... after post processing there really isn't much separating them, apart from the slightly higher level of details from the M3.

But, seeing as the M3s have a virtual horizon I have already relegated the M2 to staying in the car with an 18-55mm ... and a third M3 w/EVF is on it's way to have the 11-22mm permanently mounted.

Thanks for posting these great pic's. I watched the 1968 Grand Prix in that exact spot....just up the hillside from the bridge. Brought back wonderful memories....as wet as it was.
