Hi all,

It's not really a Holidays picture. It's not even from a very well known place in Madrid. It's just the Holidays make up of the square I live in here, right in the building you can see in the picture. Well, actually, it's just a excuse to say happy holidays with a picture, without having a holidays picture ;-).

Nikkor 20mm, with tripod, 2 sec, f22. Shot at raw and extracted with a +2/3 compensation, ORG, SOFT, STA.

Happy holidays all, and thx a lot for being a so great group. I have really enjoyed and learn a lot during these few months in this forum.

Best,
Dioni

Hi bud! Happy holidays to you too!!! I'm sure you and Sandra must be having some wonderful days together. Say hi to her for me.

The picture is very good. Good job with the framing and exposure. I'm usually not a big fan of the "star" effect on individual lights, but in this picture I think that effects works to your advantage. In the future should you wish to not have the star effect you may want to increase your aperature to something like F5.6, but I'm sure you already knew that! :-)

Again, happy holidays and great shot!

Thx Mahesh,

She says hi back. She's still a little jet lagged, but I'm sure she'll be fine real soon.

The effect of the star could make it a little more Christmas thing, but I don't like it a lot either. These days I'm gonna try to take some more pictures of Madrid lights at night. Will take into account opening the aperture a little, but depth of field and blurried water were my two concerns for this one.

Dioni

Hey bud. For water that's flowing pretty fast (like from a fountain) you only need about 1/3 to 1/2 second of exposure to get a nice blurred effect so you have more room to work with the aperature setting. As far as the DOF, if you use a wide angle lens with a short focal length then that should also help increase the DOF without having to sacrafice too much aperature. Also you could always put a polarizer or a ND filter on the lens if you really wanted a longer exposure time. Just some thoughts I had on an early Monday morning :-)
