What are the macro capabilities on new Cool-P's?

Can they still do macro stuff like this - a Nikon Coolpix 990 shot of some tiny red ants - without special lenses?

That's pretty good. I was hoping that the new Coolpix's were more like my ant pic where you could see/capture the actual eye of the tiny ant, but I guess those days are gone.
