I went in search of a case for my LX100 today. I read the recent thread on cases here, but figured that the best thing was to go to a camera store with lots of cases and see what fit. I ended up at Glazer's in Seattle - it isn't B&H but it is what I have to work with - and spent time with a variety of cases. My criteria for this particular case are that it should be something that can be with the camera at all times (i.e. not a camera bag), offer protection against knocks and be reasonably discreet. Since I got my LX100, I have had it jammed into a LowePro Newport 30, which doesn't really work very well. Here are some options that I found:

1. LowePro Dashpoint 30

This is a pouch available in various colors. It is a little too large for the LX100 so the camera can move around.

There is room for a memory card in this pouch.

2. LowePro Dashpoint 20

Obviously this is a tighter fit, which is good. However with the camera straps, I felt it would be hard to close.

3. OpTech Soft Pouch D-Compact

This is just a neoprene pouch with snaps/poppers that close the pouch underneath the camera. The pouch can be attached to the camera using a short strap sewn into the pouch. This strap can attach to the camera or camera neck strap. There is no room for anything except for the camera.

It is possible that the slightly smaller D-Small would be a better fit, but this was not available at Glazer's. I added the Optech Mirrorless Sling since I have been unimpressed with the standard strap. I may return the sling for the Optech Mirrorless Strap - we'll see.

Hope this is helpful to others.

Nice comparison Gromit.

Whilst there are benefits to a smaller bag, the first one looks the best to me. Lots of padding and room for some extra memory cards and perhaps even a second battery.

I have the Lowepro Dashpoint 30 and it takes the LX100 with strap, supplied flash and spare battery. However, once the camera is out of the pouch it is very easy to lose the flash and/or battery if you don't zip it up again. I am looking for a small pouch that will take the flash and spare battery which will clip on to the Dashpoint 30. Any ideas?

Any help with a case for the LX100 that is designed to ONLY go on a belt? I'm amazed that no options exist, something like the one pictured (the one pictured is not for the LX100, made by Santiago). So many times I'm planning to spend the day in a museum or street fair and just want an easy to grab, yet close-to-the-body solution.

In 'case' anyone is interested - but I initially did indeed find it a bit difficult finding a good case for the LX100 + the set flash. I ended up buying a 'Hama Astana 90' (no disclaimer needed, I dont work there ;). The good thing is, you can put that little flash in the front bag and you can even stuff some filters, sd cards and the odd cleaning towel there.

I have been looking for the same thing, a form fitting case with a belt loop. I hate shoulder bags. I've looked everywhere and it doesn't exist. Very frustrating.
