I have been eyeing the a6000 due to such glowing reviews, but I have been reluctant to go back to Sony. I bought a NEX-F3 a few years ago and really disliked it. I may have had a lemon. The color noise in JPEG was really jarring.

I was on Best Buy's site the other day when the price dropped to $599 and there was an open box offer for $449. This is cheaper than you can even get one used on Ebay. The condition description was Open Box Excellent. There was one near me so I went down there. The price was actually $413 and I inspected it. Flawless...must have been a customer return, but the weird thing is it was missing the USB cable and AC adapter. It works just fine with a phone USB charger so no big deal. Is there any reason I would need the OEM Sony charger? Another thing was the strap was not the OEM strap. Not sure what happened there, but I prefer a wrist strap anyway so I will order one. The camera, lens, and battery were all there and in perfect shape. It's a steal IMO.

Brought this thing home and wow...I am SO GLAD I gave Sony another shot. Incredible! The EVF is awesome; never had one of these before and I love it. So far I like the kit lens. It's not the sharpest I have used in my limited experience, but really not bad at all. I will pick up the 35mm f/1.8 prime maybe later this year. I was going to get the Sigma 30mm, but since I got the camera so cheap I can go for the more expensive lens.

Sony only supply the USB, any external charger is an "accessory". You can pick up perfectly decent external chargers from ExPro and other companies cheap. I got the ExPro for £7.95 with changeable travel plugs and car charger cable

The other I got was from DTSE and this has a cable so means the charger doesn't hang from the wall. Better solution as I've had some batteries drop out of the ExPro unit.

This came with 2 batteries which have been fairly decent and work without problem in the Sony A7 grip.

CONGRATULATIONS! The EVF is actually the worst thing about this camera! Usable? yes. Enjoyable? No.... but that's just me. Otherwise I love this camera as much as everyone else.

I had the misfortune of putting my fathers Fujifilm cheap bridge camera to my eye the other week. Now that is a poor EVF, or even the A3000 one which is meant to be just so they can say it has one.

I bought a NEX-F3 a few years ago and really disliked it.
I had a somewhat similar experience with the NEX-5; was never crazy about the image quality (shadows looked "grayish") but mostly unhappy with the usability - I underestimated how much I'd miss a viewfinder, partly because I found the LCD lousy outdoors (and constantly menu diving to change brightness didn't help).

I think if a mirrorless camera were to be my only or primary camera, I'd want a higher res EVF. I like the A6000 EVF well enough, given that it's only a part time camera, but it looks "grainy" to me (whereas the higher res 2+ MP EVFs are smooth enough that they don't remind me that I'm looking at an EVF) ... anyway, perfectly suitable for composing, and with magnification, great for manual focus (something I can't do accurately with my DSLR).
I will pick up the 35mm f/1.8 prime maybe later this year.
Just wanted to point out that it's $50 off right now; $398 instead of $448.
I was going to get the Sigma 30mm, but since I got the camera so cheap I can go for the more expensive lens.
I'm likely going to buy the 28/2 FE lens (it's available very soon). That focal length just works for me so much better, that I'll forego image stabilization (with minor regrets). I did seriously consider the Sigma as well, but I have too many regrets piled up over the years from buying the bargain thing rather than the thing I really wanted.

Welcome to the A6000 family.

Now let's see some shots.

I think you're in the minority here, regarding the EVF. I used the EVF for everything, only used the LCD for Quick Navi display and image playback...different strokes!

I own F3and 5n both cameras were really very good to excellent. As for LCD under bright sunlight which becomes unusable is easily solved by using camera LCD shade, go to eBay and do a search under camera LCD shade. I found it to be most useful under many bright sunlight conditions without having to change the lcd brightness. I went on holidays in an equatorial country using my 5n with this shade. An Excellent combo.

Thanks for the advice everyone. Here is a shot I took when testing out the camera indoors for the first time yesterday.

Color balance is off - looks way to green, Otherwise nice shot!

Easy to correct in post or when processing from raw. (Green cast may have been caused by the green light from foliage coming through the windows). This is what it should look like (in my opinion):

Yeah there could be a green hue coming from outside in the original. The walls are a linen color. I haven't gotten into post processing yet at all. Looks nice!

I was at the best buy at Florida and i got the open box for $413 and surprisingly it had everything.Like new and it had the strap and the cable.
