I'm trying to use what I have learned from Ted (xpatUSA), so here is a flower from my stop today at the park; It wasn't taken in full sunlight, so it isn't an example of a worst case saturation control, but I like it anyway.

Processed in SPP, and cropped in Aperture.

Saturation looks good, Tom, no smeared detail. Perhaps a bit more depth-of-field needed?

Yes, I noticed the depth of field issue. I was at the closest focus distance, so I guess I should have use f/8 instead of f/4, but it would have been hard to hand hold at the lower shutter speed.

Nice capture! Maybe you could have stopped down a little bit more, so that the left of the flower is in focus as well, but that's just a minor niggle. Good to see some more DP1Q pictures ... I hope you'll be sharing some more.

Indeed I will, and more are always available at my blog; PhotoBubba.com

It looks great on my MacBook Pro 13".

I like the focus point right in the stamens and I like the rough grain in the rest of the image.

The contrast is very good, and the edges are just right: not oversharp.

Thanks Tom, Part of the rough (grainy) texture comes from turning down all the noise reduction as low as it will go. I checked the sharpening setting, and it was set to zero, as opposed to having a negative value which would have made it be less grainy.

I am finding that I kind of like the look of minimizing the noise reduction. My personal beliefs is that doing so enhances the detail of the image.
