So whats the differences between say the Zeiss 35/1.4 and the Zeiss Batis lenses?
Is the 35/1.4 a "Sony Zeiss" lens — where as the Zeiss Batis is a pure Zeiss lens, ie made by Zeiss in Germany? Where as the Sony Zeiss lenses like the FE 35/2.8, FE 55/1.8, FE 24-70/4, FE 35/1.4 are made by Sony in another country under license from Zeiss?
Apart from the OLED display on the side & floating elements of the Batis lenses, they look more compact, and seem to be quite reasonably sized. The 85/1.8 is lighter and shorter than the 35/1.4 for example. I know the 35/1.4 is one-stop faster but the 85/1.8 is a longer lens + has OIS crammed in there so really good to see more compactness in the Batis line. Incidentally the 85.18 is "Dust- and Weather-Sealed Construction". Where as the 25/2 is only "Dust and Moisture-Resistant Construction".
The 35/1.4 has a Direct Drive Super Sonic Wave AF System, vs 85/1.8 Linear Autofocus Motor — which is faster, more silent?
