Hi Guys, newbie to forum and to X series cams. X-Pro1 firmware 3.30 - have read the manual but either ive missed it or the printers have missed it (im not one to pester until ive at least tried working things out for myself).

I see there is an option to assign the Fn button. the M3 menu has a second option underneath the Fn Button allocation. Its a V shape (almost like a heart) with selector written next to it

What is this, and how do I use it???

Is this a second assignment of the Fn button or a assignment function when cam in play mode - have tried playing on these assumptions but not having much luck

Ive also noticed that Auto WB is a little cold (im used to Nikon or manual calibration)

Admittedly im still getting used to this cam so any help or pointers

Selector is the lower button of the multi selectors immediately below the "OK" button.

There are 2 PDF addendums to the XP1 manual but you may need to trawl through the various update pages to find them.

You can set WB with the K icon or set to auto then press OK which will bring up the WB shift option for you to adjust to your preference or of course set to cloudy or shade.

I shoot raw so I set it to default auto and adjust in post. I too find Fuji WB a tad cold.

Spot on - many thanks. Neat little "quick access" feature im not accustomed to will take some playing about with until it becomes second nature, but I think I get the gist of how it works.

I too shoot in RAW so correcting the WB is not a real problem, im just a little more comfy having the start point more "actual", and then ill change it anyway!!!

I've gone with having the focus point on the Fn button, and the focus area on the selector - think these will fit in with how I tend to shoot

Many thanks again

My FN is set too ISO !

The camera would be orible to use without it lol :)

In my Xpro1 I have the fn button assigned to change custom settings. the "v" button is assigned to change ISO, since you need the up/down buttons to scroll the ISO values.

My setting for the FN button.

1. Fn button: mostly iso, sometimes for dept of field.

2. Fn button: Always for selection of focusing points. A short push on the arrow pointing down, and you can pick the focusing point using the arrows left, right, up and down. Confirm by pushing the OK button or pressing exposure button.

Resetting the point. Push arrow down followed by Menu OK button.

Works with OF/EL finder and gives the camera a dynamic touch, and can be done without taking the camera from the eye. (IMO)

The AF button on the left side of camera is obsolete, but that button is in a wrong place anyway.

So many options, and each as valid as the next. Thank you all for taking the time to help me. certainly given me food for thought. Cheers again

i assigned the DOWN key to WB, but when i prress it , it shows me a lock icon and nothing happens...why ?

I think most people used that Fn button for ISO. Congrats on picking a great Fuji, update you're firmware.
