Help all!

I had a fubar with my 5700 tonight - I had 300 photos on the CF card, 290 of which I had previously uploaded - so I "protected" the 10 I wanted, and pushed "delete all", which said "protected photos excepted"

Of course, s* t happened and I now have an empty CF card.

Now, here's the rub - as my dinner companion tonight was a delegate for Miss Universe 2001 - no kidding - I am fairly eager to recover these photos, if for no other reason than it will keep me in free beer from my mates for a year.

Is there any way to recover these pics???? PLEASE HELP ME!

A free case of Tiger Beer to anyone who can solve my problem

That's a sad tale, Anthony, but maybe you can work it to your advantage. Call the beautiful lady, and bemoan your loss. Maybe she'll volunteer for a private photo shoot :-).

What do you mean by protected? If you mean that you hid them, which I believe also prevents them from being deleted, perhaps they are still there, but invisible? Perhaps check on you computer with Show All files selected in explorer where it deals with hidden files.

Hi all. Thanks for your help and comments, here's what happened

1. I trolled tucows for a freeware recovery utility (yeah, I'm cheap) and found one called PC Inspector File Recovery which works really well

2. All photos recovered without damage

3. Miss xxxxxxx 2001 now no longer thinks I am "lame"

4. As for Frank R's comment - its not like I actually needed an excuse to see the lass again - promising to show her that there is good italian food in Taipei did the trick (no, she's not Miss Taiwan)

5. But i will be taking my camera again to get more shots

Here's a picture of us together :

Before you all start whining, I do have to protect the nice young lady's privacy, and don't get too exicted, she didn't even make the final ten.

And for my NT$0.02 worth, this adds to the # &$(@&$ing autofocus debate - the pic was obviously done on a tripod with the timer, and we were in a brightly lit restaurant yet the focus was on the rear wall - not so obvious on the scaled down pic but very obvious on the full 5MP one. Annoyed!

Never mind, I can get a better photo tomorrow night.

Wow!
What a stunning portrait!

...no I didn't mean you, I mean the your lovely girl in the shot! :-)

(just one thing, could you just give it a soft focus rather than TV blocks... can't we at least see that it's a girl?)

LOL ;-)

Hey, just think - if you hadn't said she was Miss 2001 contestant... we would have just thought that you were showing us just another average photo!

Back to being serious...

Glad you were able to salvage your photos, and even better with the low price of the utility!

Pity about the focus, but at least you can get another shot. It is a surprise that it picked up the background to lock on, rather than the main subject in the foreground.

If I am concerned about low light/contrast & focus, I often switch over to manual focus.

Yours sincerely,
Michael Offe,
South Australia.

P.S. I'm sure there's a smile under there! ;-)

When you do, increase your shutter speed. You only think you're not moving. But if you're breathing, you're moving. The camera doesn't lie.
