So I was in my local Wolf Camera shop in Atlanta and saw this nifty little 15mm F8.0 lens cap lens from Olympus for only $49. I'm sure some of you have seen this - nothing new here but I though I would post an image showing the quality just in case you were considering buying one for yourself. I shot this photo in the late afternoon and processed it in Lightroom with a little sharpening and clarity. I can provide a full res jpeg if anyone wishes to see more detail but I'm very pleased with this lens and its compact, discrete form factor makes it ideal for street photography. I give it a solid 4 out of 5 starts.

Nice photo. :)

What camera did you use?

EXIF?

Have anymore examples shot with the lens?

It is a semi-fisheye lens, correct?

Aperture fixed @ f/8 so no need to focus? Or can it focus?

But, in your photo, it seems to strongly vignette around the edges, or did you add that in post?

So, what do you think about this lens on a Panny GM5 for a small discreet kit?

Thanks for posting and sharing.

Here's one ... A three frame stitch:

Olympus E-PL1 + Body Cap Lens 15mm f/8 : ISO 400 @ f/8 @ 1/100

Olympus E-PL1 + Body Cap Lens 15mm f/8 : ISO 400 @ f/8 @ 1/100

It is a semi-fisheye lens, correct?
The BCL 15mm is a rectilinear lens; the BCL 9mm is a full-frame fish-eye.
Aperture fixed @ f/8 so no need to focus? Or can it focus?
Both BCLs have a manual focusing mount. They also both have a detent set at the hyperfocal distance. For the 15mm, this means at 6.2 ft, netting 3.1 ft to infinity in focus. However, sharpest results are done by setting the focus precisely.
But, in your photo, it seems to strongly vignette around the edges, or did you add that in post?
The simple triplet of the BCL 15mm does have a little light falloff, but it's not enormous. I believe the OP had exaggerated it for visual effect. :-)

It works nicely on the E-PL1 and E-PL7, making them pocketable, quick-draw shooting cameras. It's not a match for the Panasonic Lumix G 14mm f/2.5 lens, obviously, but it performs remarkably well, weighs little more than a body cap, and is 1/3 the thickness. The focusing control includes a built-in lens cover when you flip it past the infinity point. I often combine it with a simple optical viewfinder for street shooting.

I can't imagine that it would do poorly on the GM5.

I totally agree with the above. Yes, I add some vignette in post processing for affect. Below is the original photo exported in jpeg format with zero post processing except for conversion to jpeg. You can see that there is only a slight vignette here. I'm quite happy with the lens especially for the price and it should certainly perform as well on any M43 camera and for $49 - if you do not like it just use it as a fancy lens cap.

Sorry - my camera is an OMD-EM1.

Here is another image I captured with the same lens on my EM1 while parked in traffic in midtown Atlanta. Post processed in Lightroom, sharpening, clarity, saturation.

Thanks Godfrey and Mike. Very nice photos!

I must give both BCL's a look.

I have a Panny 7-14. Is a very nice lens, but big and heavy. I would like to carry a smaller, UWA on a GM5 (pending purchase ;) )

For the prices, both BCL's are worth a try.

Regards,

Lena

How did you stitch those images together?

I ordered one of these with my black friday M10 package. It looks like a fun lens to wander around with. I figured for fifty bucks I couldn't go wrong.
